The Painting With Pat Critter Crate supply hands-on learning opportunities for students of all ages. They provide a source for environmental education with solid science content that involves children as active participants launching kids on a life-long love affair with the natural world.

Each of the crates contain specific items pertaining to its title that encourages kids to experience the natural world with a sense of curiosity, discovery, and passion :

is great for a gym or cafteria setting.

Our Endangered/Threatened Species 'Critter Crate'

contains a variety of specimens of endangered and threatened animals that helps to explain to kids why animals are going extinct. Specimens includes a 20 feet-long python snake skin, a purse made from a lizard hide,(head, forearms and hind legs in tact) a purse and shoe made from a crocodile hide, a shoe made from a monitor lizards's hide, an elephant tusk ivory carving, a billfold made from a caiman's hide, a boot made form a green sea turtle hide and a hair clip made from a green sea turtle's shell. Students benefit not only by learning about world-wide endangered animals, they learn about endangered species here in Tennessee.
Our  Mammal Hides, Skulls, and Tracks 'Critter Crate'

contains a variety of mammal specimen hides, including a raccoon, fox, skunk, and black bear, along with several skulls, teeth and bones of a variety of animals. The students will have the opportunity to touch and feel the hides and try one on for size! They will develop an understanding why animal's hides', (fur) coloration is different and appropriate for the region of the animals habitat. The type of teeth the animal posses pertains to the diet of the animal. With our raised-up, (relief) animal tracks, the kids can feel and touch the toes, claws and then have an opportunity to print a track!
Our Trees Are Alive 'Critter Crate'
contains items which explains how to identify trees using shape, bark, leaves, determine how old a tree is by counting rings in tree cookies, understand that a tree is a vital 'living' object that has a life cycle in our fragile ecological balance, which creates habitats for other animals.insects, and plants. Students will develop skills in environmental and biological sciences, observation and data collection, decision making, along with environmental stewardship. The students will have the opportunity to experience the art of leaf printing and relief rubbings.
