Steve Irwin Day
Our partner in wildlife conservation!
Steve Irwin Day
The Australia Zoo, 'Home of the Crocodile Hunter', invited Painting With Pat, Inc. to participate in the 2008 Steve Irwin Day.....and we gladly accepted the invitation!
Just look at the Art Work of Crocs created by Painting With Pat's Art Club Kids, Leonardo Tracks (ages 6 -10 ) and Sketchy Skinks (ages 11-14)
Steve Irwin was just one man, but he made a wonderful, positive impact in the lives of kids and adults around the world.
Steve Irwin Day on 15 November is an international and annual event to celebrate the extraordinary life of the one and only Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin.
The day represents the many things Steve was passionate about:
Family, Wildlife Conservation and Fun!

Painting With Pat, Inc. holds the same beliefs. Pat, a wildlife artist, wildlife conservationist, and art instructor, recognizes the need for children to 'get up, get moving and get reconnected to nature and wildlife.
Our youth today is spending less and less time outside than ever before. They are becoming disconnected with the natural world and connected with a universal world of communication and entertainment. Electronic devices, attached to the arm, in the ear or in the hand is a necessity for casual attire for young people today. Being universally connected isn't a bad thing, but the youth is missing out on the natural world and we need the youth connected to nature and wildlife.
They blossom and grow when they connect to the natural world. The connection creates a calmness and normalcy within their lives.
Nature's palette is over flowing with sights, sounds, smells that saturates the creative side of all of us! If we can only get the kids out in nature to create art and experience nature's palette--they will take the experience into their hearts and voluntarily become guardians of our precious wildlife and the natural world through the arts!
'Get UP, Get MOVING, Get CONNECTED to Nature and Wildlife through the ARTS!  Here's How!
Dragons at Kentucky Down Under Animal Park!!
The kids had a blast at Horse Cave, Kentucky transforming geometric shapes into a realistic drawing of a bearded dragon!

Southside Elementary Kids are taking part in the Painting With Pat, 'Growing Up Green' Program. Mosaic Wildlife Extinction Awareness.
The kids are working on 4' x 4' tile mosaic of the endangered 'Green Sea Turtle' that will be placed in their school's outdoor classroom. Painting With Pat gives the kids a 'voice' through their art to raise awareness in their community that the green sea turtle number is declining at an alarming rate! Habitat destruction, pollution and over consumption are causing the species to decline at a rate never before seen in history. The kids are developing social skills, art skills, a connection to their local environment and real life wildlife concerns!

Ingram Sowell Elementary Kids, Grade 6,  took part in the Painting With Pat, 'Growing Up Green' Program, Trees Are Alive
PWP are environmental conservationists. All projects are environmentally friendly. This project taught the kids that recycling is fun as they transformed ordinary scrap paper into beautiful creative hand-made paper sheets and paper pulp sculptures. The students
counted growth rings in tree cookies, learned how to identify different trees and their leaves, learned that a tree is a 'living' object that has a life cycle in a habitat which creates habitats for other animals/insects/plants. The students met Smokey Bear and Forestry Agents in a presentation, created leaf rubbings and experienced the art of leaf printing!

The frames were assembled in a software program and played in succession without time lapse between them to make a movie!
