Painting With Pat, Inc. supports 'The Junior Duck Stamp Program'. We work with school systems to set up workshops to give the students an opportunity to enter the Junior Duck Stamp Program as part of our 'Out-Reach Art/Science Educational Programs'.
PWP provides an instructor, required art materials, reference photos, cross-curriculum lesson plans, creative media, duck decoys, and props. Painting With Pat, Inc. does not take credit for the program.
The Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program has rapidly expanded since it wa launched fifteen years ago as a pilot project. Painting With Pat would like every student to participate in the program, it is much more than an art class!
Case studies of individual schools, integrated groups of schools, and a statewide program that adopted environment-based education as the central focus of their academic programs showed:
*Reading scores improve
*Mathematics scores improve
*Students perform better inscience and social
studies
*Students develop the ability to transfer knowledge
from familiar to unfamiliar contexts.
*Students learn to 'do science' rather than just
'learn about science'.
*Classroom descipline problems decline.
*Opportunites to learn at a high level are equalized
among students.
Environmental education not only helps children become better educated, but it also helps them become better citizens!
