Welcome to Painting With Pat's Parents and Teachers Education Page
' That art and the creative process is as natural and necessary for children as fresh air and sunshine! The arts compliment every aspect of a child's life including reading and math readiness, physical coordination, self-image and socialization!'
Painting With Pat's Philosophy:
'To truly integrate the curriculum with the real world is to be in and act upon the real world. The community and home/backyard environment becomes the learning environment........

People are spending less time outside today than ever before--Painting with Pat goes beyond the walls of the art studio and classroom to encourage young and mature artists, and parents to paint and draw wildlife and nature scenes from the wild, --not in a faraway land, but in your own backyard. You will be amazed how many animals, birds, insects, and plants share your backyard with you!!
Our classes, workshops, and out-reach programs encourage exploration, creativity and self-expression with our natural world and wildlife as a focal point. We integrate wildlife, wildlife habitat, and environmental preservation within our curriculum of art, extending the classroom beyond the walls of the building. Environmental education reinforces citizenship, creates a bond with wildlife, and instills the responsibility of guardianship over our fragile natural environment. It doesn't limit the children to a certain style or medium of art. An animal can be drawn, sculpted, painted, etched, stitched, batik, or made into a college. Any style can be applied such as cubism, realism, pointillism, etc., and all the art elements, (line, color, texture, shape, form, space, value), can be utilized and taught with nature and/or animals as a theme. It is also a great way of cross-curriculum teaching.

Check out our:
Animal of the Month Page: Each month we choose a different animal, insect, bird, etc. The children learn facts about it and steps on how to draw it, along with activities. The children then have the opportunity to send it to PWP to be exhibited on the Kidz Gallery Page!

Laughing Kookaburra
According to an Aboriginal legend, a kookaburra's famous chorus of laughter every moringing is a signal for the sky people to light the great fire that illuminates and warms the earth by day. The legend captures the imagination, but the true function of the familiar cacophony is to advertise the territory of this bold bird. the Laughing Kookaburra is the largest of the kingfisher family, but unlike most of its relatives, it is sedentary and occupies the same territories the year around. Before spring breeding season, when family groups adjust their boundaries, an observer can actually locate the territories by llistening to the noisy choruss at duck as each group calls in turn and awaits the replies of neighouring groups.
